Halloween Decor - 9/10 'Talking Head'

Ah yes, spooky 'talking' heads.  I found the skulls at the dollar store, you may recall I filled a cloche jar with them.  I am still getting comments on its spooky look as it serves as the center piece on my dining room table.

 I thought that this fellow looked great on a stand!  A little E6000, some propping to hold it in place for dry time, and what great spooky impact for little time and money.

 

 

I also wanted to share a couple of decoupage items that I made.  The tray and tall can were first spray painted black.  Then with great Halloween graphics from every one's favorite site, Graphics Fairy, I tricked them out!!

Then off they went to the Fallow Field Farm sale last weekend.  The tall can went home with Shirley, and I heard in a comment on a previous blog post that it is now sitting on her fireplace and is filled with Sun Flowers.  How perfect is that?

Here is the tin and tray at the sale ... note the pumpkins on candle sticks too.  I didn't have to attach them, as they sit in place just fine.  Still lovin' the look, and having fun decorating for Halloween!  

Its a Pennant Parade!

 At the Fallow Field Farm show  last weekend I adored all the pennant banners.  This one was made from the pages of old children's books.

This one was made from random magazine pages, tickets, game cards and book pages.  Love the look!

Above is a banner made by my friend Kelli.  I LOVED it ... bingo cards, Battenburg lace, Burlap and fabric triangles too!

Most of the banners were booth decor for the dealers, but these bright Halloween banners were for sale at 'This and That Creations - Vintage' by Christine Ishmael, and were very popular among customers!

Above, In Cathie's booth, the pennants are made from an old quilt with vintage pom pom trim, and it was also for sale.  To the left the pennants were just raw cut burlap.

This banner is simply muslin.

Some dealers used banner to announce their business names, like my friend Jenn above who used round chalk board blanks. 

 

I also had a banner with my business name, which is shown above with Shirley and her daughter.  Shirley is a very talented blogger, she has a charming wit, and is great at finding vintage illustrations that will also charm you.  AND, I am happy to say, she is one of my favorite blog followers!  

 

Abode's booth even had a pseudo banner made with hankies clipped to a tissue garland!

All of the fun and colorful pennant banners really made the show feel festive ... it felt like a party! And seriously, when 100's of women who love funk, junk and vintage get together, what else do you call it, but a party!  Now I am just looking forward to partying again next year!!

A Portable Tea Party!

So here is my latest idea, all made up.  It a portable tea party.  It includes a nice demi tea set, which was minus the tea pot and I thought it would be fun to mix it up.  I added a polkadot tea pot, and some bread and butter plates in a similar blue to hold all the tea table munchies.

I painted this lovely long berry basket a soft white to better match the tea things, and found this sweet tea party picture on Graphics Fairy to embellish it. I then tucked an antique  small table cloth around the edges of the basket for nesting the tea things. Its just the right size to spread on a child's miniature table. (The table cloth was made for a card table.)

 

At the Crafts and Antique show I did last weekend, I tucked in some orange flavored herbal tea bags to make it complete.  It got a lot of interest, but is still looking for a home.  I think that I might even find a pretty tin of fancy cookies to add for its next time out, and maybe a sweet little gift book about tea parties.  Voila', an instant tea party, just add little girls in party dresses and take pictures for your blog, scrapbook or album!
