Making a Rusty Screen Crown

Hi all, I thought I'd share my latest crafty!  My friend Kim from my art group sports this rusty crusty crown!  

I found a rusted screen at treasures .... 

I worked with the flat screen, I cut out a crown shape and used tacky glue to add seam binding along the top and bottom edges, folding half of the binding to each side to cover the wire ends. Then with more tacky glue I used tarnished German glass silver glitter to cover the seam binding on the front and back, and let it dry. 

At this point I formed the wire crown into the round. I over lapped the unseambound edges and ran wire in and out through the holes, like stitching, to secure it. Since I used wire I'd unfrayed off the screen it was almost invisible. 

Next I made small accordion folded rosettes from card stock and glued and glittered both sides of each. I used hot glue to glue the glittered rosettes to the points of the crown 

I used hot glue to add faux craft jewels to the rosettes. 

It did take a really lot of glitter...

But I loved how it turned out. 

If I make another I'll definitely make the points steeper so I can have 5.

Crafting Uncle Sam

Well, it's time to share another art group project!!

These three guys were complete by the end of our project day. 

But the others will be completed another time due to the fact that we sculpted air drying clay heads that take a few days to dry.

Shirley was out instructor for this project.

Well other than the fact Kim doesn't actually have cat eyes. (though I have seen her in cat eye glasses! )   

Sweet Jann hosted again, and afterwards she gave a few of us a tour of her back yard and darling new She Shed.   I'll be sharing pictures of her charming yard next week. Stay tuned.

Jann's She Shed and Garden Tour

Last week at my Art Group meeting I had a chance to see my friend Jann's garden house or, as some call them, her She Shed ...

I love the clean lines! 

The Dutch door is charming ...

Jann demonstrates it while we check out inside. 

She had other lovely garden features, like this fire pit area. 

Loved this sweet retro bench on her patio. 

And I'm always a fan of a fairy garden. This one is in a wheel barrow. 

These wash tubs are ready for ice and canned sodas for her next party. 

This sweet stream flows down from the She Shef hill! 

Stunning flowers grace this rusty shopping cart. 

And this scene includes an old sink 

Her ladder climbing clematis is stunning. 

And these sweet miniature daisies are no less delightful. 

And Jann can always count on this bottle tree for color, year round.
