Summer in the Garden with Jane Austen.

This week I had the opportunity to support a college scholarship program at a local university!

 They host three teas each summer with a focus on famous authors.  This one was summer in the garden with Jane Austen.  A local theater group is doing Persuasion and sent three actors to do a couple of scenes, note Anne and Captain Wentworth to the right.  We actually got to share a table and they were all fun to talk to ... we are definitely going to see the play.

The school also has a highly acclaimed culinary program which provided the wonderful buffet.

My friend Barb, who went with me, said the food was well worth the price of the ticket alone.  I totally agree.

 Along with the luncheon and the bits of the play, we were also entertained with readings of key scenes from three of Jane's novels by  well known local actors.  That was a lot of fun as well.

Barb and I had a great time, and it was fun just to get away from normal responsibilities for girl time!!  And what better girl time is there than that which includes the works of our favorite author, Jane!!
