This past weekend Mr. P and I drove to Cody, Wyoming with my son and his fiance for an open house in her hometown to celebrate their upcoming nuptials.
Her clever mother and an equally clever Aunt had gathered and prepared the food and decor per Brittney's pinteresting ideas!
Everything was charming or beautiful or clever. The open house was held from 10 to 12 on a Saturday morning, and favorite breakfast foods made up the menu.
The gourmet muffins were baked in parchment squares instead of muffin papers, and were every bit as delicious as they were gorgeous.
This simple and elegant cake was perfect for an informal morning gathering.
Brittney's father is Japanese, and in keeping with cultural tradition, her amazing (I am not kidding this woman can do anything, and do it extremely well!) mother folded 1,000 paper cranes, for good luck for the couple. Then they went one better by having the guests sign the cranes wings, instead of having a guest book. They plan to keep the square glass vases full of paper cranes as decor! How charming is that?
In addition to signing the wings of a paper crane, the guests were asked to write some words of wisdom for the newly weds. Her Aunt Karen prepared the tags and put a ring through them.
- I also loved the simple centerpieces, made up of antique cups and saucers with baby's breath.
Everything about this wedding event was homey, comfortable, delicious and charming.
We will be hosting a slightly larger event here in Utah this weekend, and I will share more wonderful and Pinteresting pictures next week!!
