Trash to Treasure - Springtime Steampunk Birds

Thrifty Thursday Craft
For our thrifty Thursday I decided to go with a nice cheap green craft.  I had made my two plaster birds, using the same simple plaster casting that I did a few weeks back.  Then I went to our local Habitat for Humanity 'Restore' to find some kind of weighted base for the cool shabby green spindles I found a couple of weeks ago, and which I planned to use as bases for the decoupaged birds.

But while at 'Restore' I ran into these uber cool sprinkling system pressure gages and thought that a little Steampunk might be just what my colorful little birds needed.
They were different heights and were nice and stable due to the heavy bases!  Yeah!

After choosing three papers I liked together, I decoupaged them onto the birds with clear Tacky Glue.  I love how they turned out and I am still trying to decide where they should live.

Have a lovely 'green' spring!

P.S.  I found a great 'junk crafting' site and I am linking this post there.
