Our First Flea.ette Goes Down in Happy History!!

Despite the rain delay that made us wait an extra week to hold our first flea.ette, the day finally came.  It was the perfect fall day for junking too!! Temperatures in the 70's, sunshine and friends, everything one needs for a perfect sale.  There were 7 of our regular flea.o.logy dealers and one new dealer who I met at the Walter Larsen Show the beginning of the month.

Cathie brought the mannequin from her personal collection of stuff, to hold our 'open' and 'closed' sign, isn't she cute. She also brought the pumpkins and gourds to sell for her neighbor children.  I thought they added the perfect fall festival air to our sale.

In the picture to the left we see Jenn's creative use of a lovely crab apple tree.  To the left is my daughter Becca, she came to help me set up and is shown with my daughter-in-law Nell's jewelry.

And here we are, Jenn, Cathie and me, the three flea.o.logists.  The sale had lots of customers, but nothing like our normal turnout in Payson.  The hosting store, Simply Splendid in Pleasant Grove, is a charming boutique and bistro, and they were wonderfully accommodating. We had a great time, added lots of customers to our mailing list and made new friends.

So thanks to Dana at Simply Spendid, we had a , well, spendid time!! (...and their Tuna Melt as well as their Monte Cristo sandwiches are exceptional!)

Best Witches for a Happy, Crafty Halloween (Banner)

 Just wanted to share a fun project I just finished. This banner is made of 12 by 12 scrapbook card stock.  I love the black and white combinations and chose three, that I alternated.

I chose the 'stencil' font on my computer for the letters, and then cut them out in ovals and added a trim around them before gluing them on the flags (12" by 4 ") with Tacky Glue.
Then the flags were glued on the vintage trim with hot glue.

I was a little surprised by how big the banner turned out, but I do like the impact it makes. Definitely a 'centerpiece' for the room.

 These close up shots show some of the details. The 'B' flag has a gathered crepe paper border, the 'E' has a scalloped cut border of another b & w print. The "S" has a vintage b &w woven trim. 

I added a crow silhouette for the space between words that I made by coloring a crow I got off Graphics Fairy with a Sharpy marker.   Last of all I tied bits of trims, vintage lace, torn muslin, crepe paper and ribbons between the flags.

I would like to thank  my friend Jenn whose amazing flag banners have influenced me to try a hand at my own.

Finding the Joy that Service Brings With We-Can!

Here we are at the Huntsman Cancer Center in Provo with bags of comfort pillows to donate to those receiving treatment. These pillows make it more comfortable for patients who have to lay in, sometimes, awkward positions to receive treatments. This is  the "We Can"s second time to make comfort pillows, though the first time since I joined them last December, with this delivery it means our We Can group has made over 80 pillows.

It was extra sweet since two of our members pictured above have received treatment at this center in the last year!! 

And here are are at lunch at Bullpepper's Barbecue on Payson's Main Street in the old Rowe's Bakery building.  Bullpepper's is a favorite of mine, and was thankfully central for us so we could meet one more member who had worked and was therefore able to meet us for lunch!!   If you want to know more about our group you can go to our blog at:
