Tumbler Caddy and Mason Jars Storage.

Today's makeover is sort of a pet project of mine.  I am a long time antique dealer, and have always been fascinated with the cool old carriers used in the 50's for colorful tumbler sets.  Of course most of those tumblers, have since tumbled, leaving all kinds of tumbler caddies orphaned in their wake.

 Here are a couple of different styles, though the green one is likely later, and I am not honestly sure what it originally held.  I buy these when I see them at garage sales and second hand stores because ...

they make it so handy to carry several items such as jars filled with craft supplies.  The newer caddy was just the right size to fit pint size mason jars.  The aluminum was perfect for tall olive jars.  Unfortunately it takes us a while to go through a jar of green olives ... thus there is going to be some wait time for that project.

However the green one is ready to go.  To make the carrier and jars rings match I simply spray painted them all red.

 Next I spent some time on Graphics Fairy looking for a set of four pictures that went together and had bright colors.  The circus themed illustrations won.

After getting the art to the right size, I printed them off, and used a jar lid to trace the size circle I needed, keeping in mind that the rings would cover about a quarter of an inch around the edges.  I then decoupaged them to the lids.  For this project I used undiluted Tacky Glue on a wet paintbrush.  I have also used white school glue, such as Elmers, or the real deal, Modpodge for projects like this.

Next it was time to fill the jars with fun crafting goodies.  I like that the jars keep these colorful goodies on display, as they are so cheerful!

Thanks for coming along.  I have several more sets to do, and I am looking forward to a craft room that has organized and visible elements.  This is definitely a start.

Casserole Holder to Table Plateau.

Its makeover Monday once more.  I wanted to share a quick project that took a phone call, a can of spray paint, some sandpaper and some E6000 glue.

This sweet white table plateau with its amazing lion head and paw legs, started life, most likely, as a casserole holder.  I found it at our last flea.o.logy sale, at the end of the day for just $6.  The legs are cast iron.

It was painted the color in which you see it above.  I loved the color, but knew that it would not match most people's decor and thus might be passed over.  (Above you see it with the mirror I ordered that came in the wrong size, so I set it on top of the frame and used it for my daughters' spa night last week.)

After I spray painted it white, I used some sandpaper to removed some paint.  I like the blue peeking through, and its not enough to clash with any decor color scheme.

Once the glass was recut (the phone call) and glued into place, (With E6000 glue) it was ready to go to the antique show with me this past weekend.  It really turned out to be so charming, but did not sell.  I don't think it will take long though as it is the perfect platform for any centerpiece.  Thanks for coming along on our Make Over Monday, mini-adventure.

The Acorn Antique Show is Here Again.

So after loading the van Thursday night until midnight, then finishing up a few projects like the remade sign above, it was off to bed around one, then up again at 5:00 AM ...pardon my yawn.  This was my first time to have my own booth at an antique show.  In the past I have shared with my former partner, Bruce ... (Yes, another dealer asked us during set up today if it was just a trial separation ... LOL) 

But since I missed the last Acorn Sale, as my family was out of town, and Bruce had record sales, I guess he thought it was time to  tip the fledgling out of the nest .... ouch .... bump .....

So this is my set up for the Acorn Antique Sale in Ogden at the Weber County Fairgrounds  which is going on ... TODAY!!  To the left is my collection of white pitchers, since my family room is going a different direction.

Above is a massing of my French Signage, which I  have made over the last year.  I have a slow and steady sales flow through Treasures Antique Mall, but bringing some of them along to the Antique show should boost my sales.

To the right is the cool new wire shelf that I found at the last flea.o.logy.  Definitely my favorite of the sale.

Above is a shot of the whole booth.  It took me from 7:30 A.M. until after 4:00 P.M. for set up.  OK there was some wandering around and saying hi to old antique dealer friends mixed in.

The yoyo throw to the left is one of my favorite pieces for this show.  It is its first time 'out'...

Above are my two latest additions to my French signage group.  Of course the designs for both were found on Graphics Fairy.

 Then to the left is my one moment of inspiration during set up.  I had the fun round deco bird cage, sans a bottom and decided to use it as a cloche for the small cake with bride and groom. 

... and last of all is a teaser of my steampunk friend Marci's booth.  She was not quite done setting up when I left, but I loved these little picture holders.  I will be doing a future blog post about just her booth.  She is so amazing.  Thanks for coming along and hope to see you at the show today!
