Of Acorns and Goslings

 What a fun, fun weekend ... three days of hanging out with old antiqueing friends, and meeting new friends too!! 

I am including some shots of my booth for this post, and will share some other goodies at the show later this week.

The clock shelf was a lot of fun ... I can't seem to stop buying them.  They always looks so good in groupings.  The large alarm clock, just below the safari hat, sold to a girl who is doing a Alice in Wonderland theme baby shower ... what a fun, fun idea! 

As you can see, I made use of my mix and match pennant banners again, and got a special order to make one for one customer, while another said she wished I just had individual letter pennants so she could buy ones to spell what she wants ... what a great idea ...

 

This great antique funeral flower tin basket got a lot of attention, but it always does, decorated with one of Karen's great French label designs from Graphics Fairy.  Isn't the table it sits on charming?  That was a find at Fleattitude a couple of weeks ago.

 And just for fun, let me introduce you to a couple of interesting people I met at the show.  Above is Gertrude the Goose, whose people adopted her as a hatchling and raised her like a child so that she accepts them as her parents.

 

To the right is a dear lady that I met that is definitely a kindred spirit.  I love her black and white style!!

 

My antique show partner, Bruce, brought in some old store stock letters and numbers.  Not all letters were available, but I was able to spell Pollyanna ... in a future post I will share how I have decided to use them.

Adornments - Artist Created Necklaces

One of my favorite things about the flea.o.logy flea market sales that I host at my historic house here in Payson, is meeting fabulous new people.

 I especially enjoy those who put on their funky style to go junking!  The jewelry we see around the necks of customers, can only be equaled by that created by some of our vendors, like the button necklace above, which was made by jewelry artist Shireen.

 The Peter Pan theme necklace above was a gift to my friend Shirley, from her daughter.

 

The lady to the right sports a necklace she made herself, using beads with bling, and other fun touches like rhinestone rondelles.  I love it!

And just for fun, I thought I would show you that my wisteria is in bloom.  It is one of my favorite floral adornments.  It took forever to bloom the first time, almost 8 years, then had to survive a crazed renter who had all but cut it to the ground before my neighbor stopped him ... but now, 6 years later, look at it go, this is the most blooms its ever had, happy me, and happy spring to all of you who love spring blooming plants.

 



Reinvented Floral Plantings for Summer

 Lately, as I have been out early walking with my friend Ginny, its been fun to notice the charming reinvented planters people put together.  Above, of course, is one of the 50's metal picnic baskets that I used to make planters for my garden house.  To the right is a stack of drawers put together by my friend Andrea of QueenBandMe.

 The buried wheel barrow and the half of a whiskey barrel have been around for a long time as an idea, but never loose their charm, even so.

My friend LaVern filled this old metal trunk with lots of colorful flowers, how charming is that!

 At flea.o.logy last weekend there were even more unusual plantings.  My friend Jennine put together the rubber boot plantings, as well as tucking potted plants into old bed springs!

 Another dealer, Vicki, planted lots of colorful Zinnias, in just about anything she could think of ... I love them all, such fun splashes of color.

 Rose, still another dealer at flea.o.logy, tucks succulents into tiny planters, pots and sugar bowls.  Did you notice the sweet tiny bird in the silver sugar bowl?

 

And I save my favorite for last, Jennine put these petunias in an antique funnel and hung them from a chain, what an amazing hanging planter.

 

Evidently only your imagination need be your limit in finding fun and whimsical ways to display flowers and plants this summer.  Have you planted in something unusual?  Tell us about it!
