Vintiquer's Antiques in Ogden

It's been a few weeks since my first visit to Vintiquer's in Ogden, but I thought I'd share. 

My friend Joanne suggested the visit since we had other business in Ogden, an hour and a half north of my small town. I was charmed by the lovely old home that houses the shop. 

And how fun was it to see Sherri and Denise, friends of mine who own The Co-op Chicks with another friend Carla, there doing the new stores' sign.  

Heidi owns the new Antique Shoppe.   She also runs the Acorn Antiques show in Ogden that I did for years with my friend Bruce.   

The first thing that caught my attention, after years of collecting children's bust was this charming pair. 

Heidi's displays were all so charming. 

Her merchandise is a good quality as well. 

Growing up as the daughter of an antique dealer, she is also very knowledgable! 

I think her store will find a nitch and end up being one of the best and most popular in the state. 

It reminds me of the better shops I've seen while traveling, and is probably the nicest single owner shop I've seen in years!

She somehow manages to know her antiques, and the old ways of antique stores while also managing to stay in touch with current trends! 

It was a lovely afternoon sandwiched into my very favorite day of holiday season. 

If you have a chance to visit her store, I promise you won't be disappointed.

I'd also like to mention that she has decent prices, especially considering that her merchandise is on the better side of what I'm seeing in stores these days. 

And I love the old timey accounting ... 

Even adorable Joanne was digging deep in her pockets to buy goodies!! Hmmmm what is the exchange rate on a mother of pearl button these days anyway? Thanks for coming along all, and thanks for the awesome suggestion, Joanne 

Making a $2 World Globe for Decor.

Just thought I'd share a fun little project. I'm in love with globes, but looking for cheap!  I made this crafty globe and sold it at Treasures Antiques. 

I started with this large plastic ornament I picked up at a thrift store for $1. I stripped it because the stripes were glittered. Next time I'll buy a plain one and skip this step. 

Next I printed off a map the right size. And cut out each continent while holding scrapbook paper behind it and cutting through both.   Don't use card stock, thinner paper lays flatter and molds to the round surface better 

I spray painted the ball blue and glued the continents on with Tacky glue. I sprayed it with clear gloss varnish. Then glued it on a candle stick I'd gotten for a buck at the same second hand stire. 

Thus with supplies on hand plus $2, I made this cute 10" tall globe. 

I think I'll make a red and white one for my bedroom next. 

Block 100 Antiques

I was out junking with friends this week when someone suggested a stop at Block100 antiques in Provo! 

The owner had stopped by Treasures, the antique mall where I work and had told us about their relatively new venture, and I'd resolved to drop by ... 

Lots and lots of wonderful primitives fill the store. 

The Evans' also had a popular store near my house when I lived in Orem 20 years ago. 

They sold off their business back then and moved out of state for some adventures!  

So it's super fun to have them come back!  They were always well known for their amazing quilts and they still don't disappoint. 

This is the grill from an old car. 

And who doesn't need a buffalo head? 

Lots of antique and vintage goodness! 

I thought both of these quilts were stunning. Their quilts mostly run from $100 to $300. 

As we left with our bags of goodies we checked out their amazing farm table. What's not to love about that!! 

Such a great chippy finish!
