I have always been fascinated by antique ornaments ... The one above is one that I made a few years ago after reading in a magazine about the Dresden Star Company that was assembling "Victorian" ornaments from vintage and antique elements. To the left are the ornaments I made this year. They have vintage Dresden pressed paper cut outs, ornaments, beads, tinsel, and reflectors.
When I have made these in the past graphics were always an issue. Finding good Victorian Clip Art was about impossible. Today I only need to click to go to Graphics Fairy, a treasure trove of such.
I wanted to show a close up of the ball on the clown ornament. It has old red beads, with curled wire wrap and old tinsel too. The green is an old light reflector from the 50's not Victorian at all, but it seems to fit right in.
Here are each of the three ornaments in their new places on my tree. Below are some of the other ornaments I have made in years gone by.
And last of all, below is the German wax angel that adorns the top of my tree ... I found her at our local second hand shop several years ago... and since I had once paid $40 for a 5 inch tall German wax angel ornament, I knew that this foot tall angel must have been pricey ... just not for me.
I hope your decorating is coming along well, and that you are enjoying this magical time of year.
I LOVE your ornaments! Very beutiful!
