Fairy Garden Wonders!

 I have had so much fun with my fairy garden this year, that I thought I would find others who have them as well.  The first five pictures are of a fairy garden done by friend LaVern's sister-in-law, Julie Crump ... I don't know her, but she did an amazing job, and she did it all in this pot!!

 I love the bonsai tree behind the bench!

 Some people don't use containers at all, like my friend Jane Parker, she made hers in her own private wood land!  Aren't the mushroom table and chairs just too cute for words!!

 These three were all done by Jessica Cook, a face book friend ... she used a wagon, a bird bath, and also did one in a boarder!  They are all charming and all have a different feel about them!  Thanks for sharing these Jessica, they are adorable!!

 This cute garden was done by my friend LaVern Crump!  I love the tiny wheel  barrow!  She built her's in an old crate!

This charmer was built by a lady here in Payson, whose grand children had a yard sale in her yard last weekend, who let me take some pictures to share!!  She built hers in a wheel barrow. Her grandchildren said that she built all the darling earthy houses herself, so charming!!

 ... and of course here my own little fairy granddaughter and fellow fairy garden builder, Eva.

We built the fairy garden in mid-June and here we are the beginning of August and its still alive.  We had a lot of rain last week and it even sprouted miniature mushrooms, as seen in the boarder to the right.

 I am loving the tiny fuzzy flowers that are blooming in some of the ground covers.  They are the perfect scale!

Here's another mushroom to the right of the statue... and a bit of the arch that was added to my fairy garden by an unknown participant ... or maybe the fairies built it, you know, right before they planted the tiny mushrooms!

Fairy Garden Fun!

 I've been promising my granddaughter that we would make an outdoor fairy garden for over a month.  When I redid my miniature indoor garden last week, she was worried I had forgotten her.

She was so excited to come to Grandma's for an evening of gardening and a sleep over.  She is such a soul mate (After dinner we sat in my craft room and made sculpy fairies for the garden, and she said, "Grandma, someday I want a craft room just like this!)

Using an old fountain bowl on top of the stump of the catalpa we chopped down last fall seem like the perfect camouflage.

Eva loved how the garden turned  out, and said, "Grandma, if this was a contest I think we would win, don't you?"  Then when I posted it to Instagram, and showed her others that came up under the hash tag #fairygarden, she was disappointed that she found one she like even better than ours!

 I think she really loved the gardening gloves and water can I got for her for the occasion, and is so excited to get to take them home! ("I think I will make a fairy garden at my house, Grandma!")

What a super fun project .... I love it when it works our just like you planned it, don't you?

A Fairy Garden Terrarium, kind of.

 Today I would like to introduce you to my former tea cup fairy.  While visiting my sis in Maryland a million years ago,  I found the most charming broken tea cup at a garage sale ...  I loved it.  Sis took the tea cup in hand and told me she would fix it for me.  

A while after my eastern travels were complete, I got a package in the mail.  True to her word she had repaired the cup and saucer, but to my surprise and delight she had created this delightful fairy to dwell in it.  That was 24 years ago...

Today Mistress Fairy Princess of the Fair People,  got new digs!

 Long time followers may recall the day I created this wonderful miniature garden,  if not, you can see what it looked like before everything died, here.

The bonsai tree I'd brought back from the LA flower market while on a junking trip there, is now as dead as a proverbial door nail ...

I knew it was time to clean up the mess, but I also knew that killing a new batch of plants would be, well, just wrong.

There fore...

The bonsai tree got a paint job, and all the dead mosses and grass got replaced with preserved versions.

 You may note that I also repainted the table and chair set ... when they were dark green they matched the patio tiles, but they also disappeared into the green scenery.

 The Dr. Suessish tree was made from faux moss covered styrofoam forms I found at the dollar store ..  Add small branches from my yard and voila, cool, if unrealistic trees are born.

 So now the beautiful little demitasse tea cup stands along ... as my tea cup fairy has moved on ...

I think she will be much happier here, don't you?  Hey sis, she look lonely though, just sayin' .
