flea.o.logy: A Flea Market with Style!

Today our Wednesday's Wanderings takes us back in time four days, but not too far afield, as the flea.o.logy flea market is actually held in the fenced yard of my historic Payson home. Above, in the front of the crowd, we see Korrie (In pink back to the camera)from Red Hen Home with her brood in front checking out the goodies at flea.o.logy. She blogged about their experience on her blog.

We had 34 different dealers, all bringing lots and lots of vintage goodness!!

My newly married cubby cupboard to the left made its first debut, though the fact that it was really priced for the Acorn antique show I am doing in Ogden in a couple of weeks mean that it is still around and ready to make the trip north.

We had so much amazing stuff.  Above is a cupboard full of vintage fun in my friend Jenn's space.
To the right is a display in Jennine's booth, she is a relatively new flea.o.logy vendor, and this was her second sale.

I adore this antique pink child's cupboard.  There were four or five children's cupboard at the sale, but this 1890's, home crafted beauty was definitely my favorite.

Above we see a red and white display from my own booth.  Most of the red goodies sold, but the cool shabby white with red dresser will be back at the next flea.o.logy.  The thing I love most about it is the very shabby paint with the old red paint peeking through.

We had lots and lots of vintage clothing and great reinvented jewelry for girls looking to create their own unique look! The dealer with the clothing in the picture above sells a ton of vintage on etsy, and has a wonderful array.

My cute granddaughter Beckie came by to support my effort.  Who could not smile with such an adorable baby around?

... and here I am with the other two flea.o.logists wearing our aprons for the first time. We each made our own, well, Jenn's mom (Yeah Sheila) made hers, in our own favorite apron styles.

The sale went well, we all had a great time, and welcomed a record breaking crowd.  Thanks to all of you who dropped by, come and see us again at the sale on July 14th.

I will be sharing my favorite (thrifty) finds at flea.o.logy tomorrow on Thrifty Thursday!

Tuesday Tutorial ... Multi Page Enlarged Graphics at Home

For today's Tutorial, you need to find one ugly round table.  This one came from my local thrift store and cost, unbelievably, $4.
It had a Formica top, so I spray painted that, to allow the water base paint with which I painted the whole table (after sanding) to stick.

After painting the table a nice French blue, which for some strange reason looks like a weird green in my pictures, I was ready for my 'world'. I really wanted a full round globe, but after checking my atlases, and on line, a round single hemisphere was the best I could do.  I am grateful to Graphics Fairy that she has this one with some vintage flair. Above you can see how I made multiple 'copies' on my photo site and then cropped them into 4 quarters.  It was easy with the map, because it had the grids of the longitude and latitude, but I have done other pics, by choosing a detail in the center and cropping it so that point is in one corner of all four quarters, them trimming them to fit.  Here you see that I positioned them, using a ruler to make sure together they were all centered, before applying the Modpodge to the back and placing them.  Once in place, more Modpodge was painted on to seal it in place.

With several coats of spray on clear varnish, it was ready to go.  Here it is shown in my family room, where the 'world' is protected from the likes of coasterless cold drinks!!

I really thought it turned out to be bright and whimsical.  I hope you learned something new with this tutorial, or maybe it sparked an idea for a project of your own.  Thanks for dropping by and be sure to come back tomorrow to see pics of how our flea.o.logy flea market went.  We had 34 dealers, thousands of customers and zillions of cool stuff.

Upcycled Vintage Flower Basket!

Makeover Monday
Today for Makeover Monday I am going to show you a great old metal flower basket that I gave a bit of a face lift.  I have always loved these and their wicker counterparts.  Some people avoid them, maybe because of the fact that they were sometimes used for funerals, I don't know.  I chose the same bee in a wreath design that I used on my garden tote last week.  (The tote now has a new home since it sold Saturday a at flea.o.logy.
The wreath and bee design comes from the Graphics Fairy, as do most of the wonderful graphics I find.  I actually ran into a lady the other day who had not heard of the Graphics Fairy, but she does now and she is in for a real treat!  The design as it appears on her site is shown below.

I am linking this great metal flower basket to Knick of Time Tuesday.

Thanks for coming to take a peek.  Come back Wednesday and see some amazing pics of people and goodies at flea.o.logy. We had a record breaking crowd.

FYI: Starting Next Monday I will be replacing this feature with 'The Monday Mansion Report' which will include articles about my historic home, its histories and renovations.
