Saying Goodbye to 3Dotters

It's hard to believe that I just finished up my last 3dotters show. I'm leaving the country in September for a year and a half and her next show is in October!
Here are some shots of my booth. I loved the figural flower frog in a cloche jar.
This is my white and garden area.
The baby goods area.
The back wall is filled with Windows, wire baskets and assorted plant stands.

The blue area!
The red area and ...
the crafting smalls area.
Here's the German silver glass glitter I bottled. I love this stuff especially when it tarnishes.
This is my friend Lyn's cute booth.
This one is Jennine's, a sometimes Fleaology dealer.  I love her style.

Jenn of 3 Dotters  always has fun displays.
She's a huge fan of cubbies.
Adorable banners. I'm a fan!
And a wagon full time of old door knobs!! YES!!
Here's the main floor from the second floor area.
This is my friend Jessica's booth.
And this is Jessica after the sale loading up. Yep, this is no business for sissies. I also impressed with her ingenuity!

Well that's my last 3dotters for a long while. I have 3 Fleaology markets, to go, including the one on May 7th!! Wish me well!

Junking Sugar House!

My favorite thing next to crafting with friends is probably junking with friends!
So yesterday a few of us met at everyone's favorite, Retro Betty's to embark.

Sherry tried on this fun hat and it matched both her and Kim's outfits!
I found a left over mushroom Christmas tree clip ... Hmmmm
Next it was lunch at the Dodo!!
Then it was Home Again, a fun consignment store in Sugar House!!

So much to see!!

I Loved this corner cupboard. If only I had a corner!!

How sweet is this assemblage?

We finished off at Afterlife Vintage, another fun retro shop, also in Sugar House. What a great day. The best of everything, friends, food and fine junk!!

Here's hoping you'll have a chance for a fabulous girls' day out very soon!!

Stamping My Way to 3 Dotters.

Waiting for Hubs to come home so I can set up for 3 Dotters this weekend. Luckily I had some projects to finish up for the show.  I'd painted this caddy and jar lids and just needed to do the fun part.
Here's the before picture.
The canister set was also ready for embellishment.
This is how they started out.
The pail was blue splatter enamelware, and not very interesting.  And then, once I got stamping, nothing was safe!
I love my vintage stamp set. They are so fun to use.

PS if you decide to do stamping like this be sure to spray a clear finish on top to seal them or they will mostly wash off.

Saving Broadstone (the John Dixon Home)

19 years ago this year we bought this old stone house in a small town,  Payson, Utah.

Over the years we have put in thousands and thousands of hours and dollars restoring it. It had had a checkered past. It had been broken up into apartments during the depression, and had then served as a home for wayward boys. It was in such bad shape that in 1964 it sold for just $5,000

The new owner loved the house and spent many hours stripping wood work, and other labor intensive projects but a lack of money limited her ability to do much of the needed restoration.

When we bought it from her estate in 1997 there was much to do. We dug in installing furnaces, and completing bathrooms to make the house livable.

The former owners had visqueened off all but three rooms on the main floor where they lived, while leaking roofs did untold damage to walls, floors and ceilings in the upstairs rooms.

Two weeks ago a friend emailed to say  the city council would be hearing a presentation from the Utah Department of Transportation (Udot) and that they are considering a proposal that would tear down my historic home and 13 others to widen Main Street, as part of a new freeway exit plan.

At the meeting we were informed that the only way to affect the final decision would be to have lots of people call and email to express their opinion that these old homes need to be saved.
Thanks to some Face Book and Insta Gram exposure, as well as calls to the media by my son Trevor, this reporter came to my work last week to film a spot for our local news.
A newspaper writer called and interviewed me for a story, then sent out a photographer to take pictures of my neighbor and me as well as our homes, both of which are on the National Historic Registry.
The next day another station sent out another news reporter.  This means our story was aired two days in a row.

At the same time I was being filmed, a third reporter was interviewing my neighbor who lives in another historic home across the street.
When I went over to visit afterwards,  she showed me this historic picture of my house with her great grandmother standing out front of her house.  I guess getting to know my neighbor better and seeing this old picture will just have to be my Pollyanna silver lining!

If you'd like to help please email. Paysoneis@utah.gov and tell them to save our historic Main street.  You can also call them at 801.859.3770 to register your opinion. I think even those from out of state can express an opinion that Utah, as a heritage proud state, should dismiss such a proposal from consideration. Thanks

The Bijou Pop Up Market

This is such a fun market. Mostly hand made, some by crafters I follow and admire.

I enjoyed the quotes at this booth ..,

And would have bought this one, but she was out .,,
This fairy garden booth was perfect!  It was fun to realize that this was the fairy garden I purchased at the doll house festival a year ago last fall.  It now resides in my historic filled in well!  So fantastically fancifull.

Aren't the mushroom just the best?  I thought so too

It just nice to know there are still crafters out there!  Their creativity adds much to our world.
