Easter Mantel with Easter Fairy!

Here she is, its the Easter Fairy ... never heard of the Easter Fairy?  Neither have I, but I never let reality effect my creativity, do you?  She came into being in a sort of backwards manner, because ...

 I've wanted to make this scalloped square pedestal ever since I found the nice little box with a scalloped lid.  The square candle stick base was going to be glittered, but the old dictionary pages seemed to be a better fit.

Of course the little girl was a find on Graphics Fairy.  She was part of a postcard in which she is emerging from an egg ... but since I just needed her head arms and upper torso, she was perfect.  I also used a butterfly and crown, I found of GF. The antique crocheted lace and crepe paper skirt completed her. Now she stands guard over the Easter mantel in my dining room.

As you can see the small garland I made to decorate my coffee filter wreath had to come inside ... the wind kept it in a snarled mess most of the time, oh well.  Now I just need a new way to decorate the white wreath on my front door ... suggestions?

Trash to Treasure $2 Easter Plates

See the bunny?  See the black bunny?  See the black bunny hop!  Pollyanna loves the black bunny ... she uses him a lot.  She is thankful to  Karen at Graphics Fairy who introduced her to the black bunny.

This was a super simple craft ... I printed off the bunnies, cut them out and glued them on by painting the backs with Tacky Glue thinned a bit, being careful not to disturb the water based ink on the front.  I let them dry then sprayed them 3 times with a high gloss finish.

The plates are actually going home with me, but since I had just put together this great black and pastel booth last week, I thought they would look great on the pink and black table ... isn't it just too charming? (For you locals, its in the north Treasures antique mall.)

 

Thanks for coming along to check out my latest cheap craft ... the plates were 75 cents each at a thrift store, so I think we can safely call it a two dollar craft!

Vine Street Antiques and Subway Art

Life's been crazy lately, have I mentioned that my DH and I are Landlords? In the last two weeks we have helped prepare a house for rent, an apartment for rent and a condo for rent (thank heavens for our kids!!)  Today I met with a realtor about selling a house ... phew!  Just glad I got to sneak out afterwards and do some serious junking!! 

 

 

 

I got to stop at my favorite antique mall in Salt Lake City, Vine Street Antiques.  This booth is fairly new and I have had a chance to watch it sort of develop.  Pretty charming, all in all.  The Subway art side table above uses Salt Lake City streets, including Vine Street for which this antique mall is named!!  I love it!!

 

I really like her industrial adaptations.  Isn't the pallet wall fun?  She really has a great eye,  the garland below is just the sweetest, simplest thing.

She has an unusual array of pillows too.  Some from table clothes, and others just fun and funky.  Love her industrial cart, just wish IT was for sale, but what a great display.

 

Of course its always fun to see how Marci has tweaked her Steam Punk booth, shown below.

She is just back from a buying trip and is going to be redoing her Frenchy booth, can't wait to get back to SLC and take some pictures of that to share.  She is such an incredible decorator!!

She also has some Subway art.  In this case its a sign, gotta love it .... though this one appears to be New York City Streets, though I am sure we have all those street in SLC, its just that none of them are famous here .... Isn't there a Hudson Street in Sugarhouse?
