Patriotic Cake Plates

Since July is coming quickly, for Fun Friday, I thought I would share one of my easiest crafts.  I collect these strainer disks and pizza pans with holes when ever I find them.  Then I gather open wire candle sticks in different sizes.  They make cheap cake plates and are great in the colors of holidays for setting up a colorful themed buffet.

Of course I use E6000 glue, and let them sit over night before spraying them with enamel spray paint.  Including the tray/plates, candle sticks and paint a set of these usually cost me between $5 and $10 to make.  (Of course I buy my spray paint at Habitat for Humanity's Restore and at garage sales when I can, which helps keep cost down.)

Thanks for coming along, and have a fun and patriotic summer!!

  1. some of your old disks look like they could have been from old canners...I have a couple in my pressure canners. What a cool re-purposing project! =D
