Trash to Treasure Bird Theme Canister

Yep, its me, the repurposer is at it once again.  For Makeover Monday I wanted to share a salvage project.  When I was at an estate sale last month I ran across this canister.  Would you believe that it is actually the canister from an ice cream mixer?  The lady also had a flat lid, that didn't fit anything.  I like to collect lids in hopes of finding something they will fit, sort of a 'family reunificatioin' thing I do.  But since I found the canister almost immediately I knew a marriage was immanent.  I spray painted the pair, and had my DH drill a hole in the center of the lid, so that I could add the crystal knob.  Knobs like this are typical of 50's tinware, so it gives it a period look.

I found several graphics on Graphics Fairy that I put together to form this design, and did the reverse Modpodge thing, I am currently so into, to adhere them.

In these pictures you see the canister gathered with other 'bird' motif items on my  6 foot long kitchen window shelf.
Thanks for coming along for my  trash to treasure project!!  I hope you will have a desire to participate in this type of fun recreational recycling too!!

  7. I am so loving that bird tin, recognized Graphics Fairy images on it. Love that ceramic cannister next to it. I'm nutty for bird things so yours really got my attention.
My bird things were originally just in our room and bathroom but little by little some of them have "migrated"to the living roomwith some of my french stuff I got from Graphics Fairy. They all seem to blend just fine.

    1. Yes, they do migrate, LOL, ... this is one of those collections that was unintended for me, I just got one bird item after another, and suddenly realized that I had a collection. There is just something so happy about birds.
