Upcycled Vintage Flower Basket!

Makeover Monday
Today for Makeover Monday I am going to show you a great old metal flower basket that I gave a bit of a face lift.  I have always loved these and their wicker counterparts.  Some people avoid them, maybe because of the fact that they were sometimes used for funerals, I don't know.  I chose the same bee in a wreath design that I used on my garden tote last week.  (The tote now has a new home since it sold Saturday a at flea.o.logy
The wreath and bee design comes from the Graphics Fairy, as do most of the wonderful graphics I find.  I actually ran into a lady the other day who had not heard of the Graphics Fairy, but she does now and she is in for a real treat!  The design as it appears on her site is shown below.

I am linking this great metal flower basket to Knick of Time Tuesday.

Thanks for coming to take a peek.  Come back Wednesday and see some amazing pics of people and goodies at flea.o.logy. We had a record breaking crowd.

FYI: Starting Next Monday I will be replacing this feature with 'The Monday Mansion Report' which will include articles about my historic home, its histories and renovations.

  1. Can't wait to see your pics. I have a couple of funeral baskets but they have accordian like bases. Love what you did to yours. Mimi

  2. That looks very pretty! I have one of these to makeover, I'm just not sure which graphic I want to use. I have so many from the Graphics Fairy saved, too, which makes it easy but also hard to decide!

  3. Do you use chalk paint on your projects? I have been wanting to use it--the homemade version--but didn't know if you could use it on metal. If so, does it have to be primed first? What kind of wax do you use over it. Not Ann Sloan I hope because it's really out of my price range. I'd really appreciate it if you could respond.

    1. I don't use chalk paint. I use spray paint with a flat finish. Then I seal it with a clear spray paint with a flat finish. I always do my projects to save money, so the less I spend the better for me.
